so when i was younger and being forced* to learn russian, i was COMPLETELY BAFFLED by the randomness of the north american cities russian textbook writers apparently thought i needed to learn how to spell because they weren’t the US state capitals or the most populated cities or anything they were
pittsburgh, philadelphia, dallas, detroit, edmonton, winnipeg, toronto ETC I THINK YOU SEE THE PATTERN HERE.
but i didn’t i was like, what the fuck is in pittsburgh and like why do i have to learn two cities in pennslyvania?? that aren’t even the capital?? where even is winnipeg?? I JUST FUCKING GOT IT. and ofc i needed to share this super important epiphany.
